We are proud to announce that Asahi Kasei’s S-SBR of the 6th generation was recently awarded first position of the list of the European Rubber Journal’s E4S (Elastomers for Sustainability) initiative.

The European Rubber Journal is the world’s biggest magazine for the rubber & tire industry and conducted this initiative for the first time this year. The judging panel comprised of external judges from Queen Mary University of London, the German Rubber Industry Association, and of consultants with a strong expertise on rubber.

The 6th generation is currently being introduced to customers and features a 20%-improvement of rolling resistance compared to the previous grade and an advanced wear resistance while maintaining processability. The advanced wear resistance also contributes to reduce the amount of microplastics generated from tires.　Some grades are planned to be commercialized in 2021.
