S.O.E. is a new hydrogenated styrenic elastomer based on Asahi's advanced polymerization
and hydrogenation technologies, that open the way to
new concepts, developments, and solutions in plastic
products.
The notable features of S.O.E. come from its structure of soft (middle) block. It enables not only high compatibility and adhesion with polar resins, but also excellent vibration-damping and scratch resistance.
Salient characteristics
- High solubility parameter (SP) value, enabling excellent compatibility and adhesion characteristic with polar resins.
- Capability for high filler content, facilitating use as base polymer. (SOE-002)
- Glass transition near room temperature, enabling excellent vibration and impact absorption.
- High scratch and wear resistance (could be used as a modifier to enhance wear resistance of low modulus TPO).(scratch and wear resistance)
- Soft texture just like flexible-PVC

Typical applications
- Artificial leather "skin" layers, by
calendering process
- Foams - impact-absorbing, shoe-sole, vibration-damping,
sound-absorbing (SOE-003)
- Flexible low-current cord sheathing - flame-retardant
and non-flame-retardant
- Tubes and hoses
- Inorganic fillers binder
- Injection-molding elastomer-compounds modifier
for wear and scratch resistance (SOE-015)
- Asphalt modifier
- Adhesives base component (SOE-014)
