The Tuftec™ P series

Selectively hydrogenated styrenic thermoplastic elastomers
Tuftec™ P – Salient features
  • Modification and compatibilization for polystyrene and polypropylene,
with an outstanding combination of superior thermal, processing, and low-temperature characteristics.

Tuftec™ P – The SBBS polymer

  • The world’s first styrene/(butadiene/butylene)/styrene elastomer,
produced by selective hydrogenation of the styrene-butadiene-styrene molecular chain at appropriate positions,
through advances in polymer chemistry and process technology at Asahi Kasei.
  • An advanced combination of low-temperature characteristics and processability, inherent to the resulting SBBS structure,
markedly superior to those of styrene/(ethylene/butylenes)/styrene (SEBS) hydrogenated elastomers.

Tuftec™ P – For advanced product development and performance

  • High compatibility for both olefinic and styrenic resins, facilitating the enhancement of their performance characteristics and the development of new and enhanced polymer alloys.
  • Opening the way for the development of higher performance polypropylene and polyolefin films
as a superior replacement for flexible PVC films and other products.
  • Enabling the development of a broad range of advanced hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive products,
as base polymer with superior compatibility and performance over the full range of tackifier types and varieties.
