What's New Tuftec P Series
December 27, 2002
Tuftec™ P Series — New trial grade now available
Trial grade JT90 overview

Trial grade JT90 is a new addition to the Tuftec™ P Series, developed by Asahi Kasei specifically for superior processability and low-temperature characteristics as the base polymer for elastomeric compounds.

The Tuftec™ P Series comprises the world's first SBBS1 elastomers, formed by selective hydrogenation of the SBS2 molecular chain at appropriate positions, with inherently high thermal resistance. Although SBBS elastomers are similar in basic molecular structure to hydrogenated thermoplastic elastomers (SEBS3), the SBBS elastomers are superior in both processablility and low-temperature characteristics.

1 SBBS: Styrene/(butadiene/butylene)/styrene
2 SBS: Styrene/butadiene/styrene
3 SEBS: Styrene/(ethylene/butylene)/styrene
JT90 is a special blend of SBBS with polypropylene and paraffin oil, designed as the base polymer for compounds with outstanding processability and elastomeric properties.
