Morphology of asphalt/Asaprene™ T-430 blends
With Asaprene™ T-430 contents of up to about 5 wt%, as shown here, as blending progresses the elastomer gradually forms an extremely fine-particle, uniform dispersion throughout the straight asphalt matrix.

Blend ratio: Asaprene™ T-430/straight asphalt = 5/95 wt%; blending temp.: 180°C

With Asaprene™ T-430 addition of about 8 wt% or more, the elastomer absorbs oil from the straight asphalt as it disperses, grows in relative area, and takes on a matrix configuration.

Blend ratio: Asaprene™ T-430/straight asphalt = 8/92 wt%; blending temp.: 180°C
